Who provides this site

ToothNotation (toothnotation.com) is provided by Implantarea. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What the site is

ToothNotation is a free educational reference for dental charting notation: tooth numbering systems, tooth surface codes, and the expressions built from them. It is intended for dental professionals, students and administrative staff.

Professional and clinical disclaimer

The content and the decoder describe notation only. They do not provide diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical advice, or billing or coding guidance. Nothing here is patient-specific advice, nothing here replaces the clinical judgment of a treating clinician, and using this site does not create a provider-patient or professional-client relationship.

Charting conventions vary between practices, institutions, countries and software. Where this site marks something as convention rather than standard, verify it against the documented convention in use where you work before relying on it.

Accuracy

We take reasonable care to keep the reference data correct, and the mapping between numbering systems is covered by automated tests. Even so, the site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. If you find an error, please report it to contact@toothnotation.com.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure; do not submit patient-identifiable or sensitive clinical information; and do not use automated systems in a way that degrades the service for others.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and code belong to their respective owners. The underlying standards it describes — the ADA Universal numbering system, FDI/ISO 3950 notation and published surface code definitions — belong to their respective publishing bodies and are referenced here descriptively. Third-party names are used only where necessary to identify a standard, and imply no affiliation or endorsement.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

We may update these terms and will revise the date above when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
